“Legacy, Excellence, and Growth at Château Clos du Roy”

Château Clos du Roy is a testament to the enduring legacy of a family-owned vineyard that has stood the test of time since the 19th century. In 1970, a visionary by the name of Louis Roy took the bold step of introducing bottled wine at the Château, christening it Clos du Roy. The world took notice of this exceptional wine, and within five short years, it garnered its first prestigious Gold Medal at the Paris competition in 1975.

The next pivotal chapter in the Château’s story unfolded in 1987 when Philippe Hermouet, Louis Roy’s son-in-law, joined the estate with a mission to further develop and refine its character. Through his dedicated efforts, Château Clos du Roy assumed its present-day form, marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep respect for tradition.

Today, a new generation has embraced the legacy, carrying forward the torch ignited by Louis Roy. Situated in the heart of the Fronsac appellation, within the charming commune of Saillans, this vineyard spans 22 hectares of carefully tended land. Over the last 15 years, the Château has grown in stature, with the acquisition of three small neighboring estates, enriching its viticultural heritage.

Château Clos du Roy remains a timeless symbol of family heritage, winemaking distinction, and a commitment to innovation and growth. Join us on our journey as we continue to craft exceptional wines that pay homage to our storied past and embrace the promising future.
