Domaine la Guintrandy: Organic Winemaking in the Southern Rhône
Domaine la Guintrandy, owned by Olivier Cuilleras, is nestled on the southern slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail massif in the Southern Rhône Valley, France. The estate lies within the appellations of Côtes du Rhône Villages and Visan. The vineyards thrive in soils composed of black marl, silt, clay, and sand, contributing to the unique flavor profile of the wines.
With a rich history dating back to Roman times, the estate has been managed by the same family for generations, upholding a strong tradition of craftsmanship in winemaking. Domaine la Guintrandy employs sustainable organic viticulture techniques to preserve soil fertility and promote biodiversity.
The vineyards are situated on a plateau with soils rich in limestone and clay, providing optimal conditions for high-quality grape production. The estate maintains a high vine density per hectare, resulting in lower yields per vine but superior grape quality due to enhanced sunlight penetration and air circulation.
The wines are crafted using traditional methods, including a destemming process and a three-week fermentation period. Gentle manual pressing of the grape cap ensures a refined flavor profile. Modern technologies, such as optical sorting machines and temperature-controlled fermentation tanks, ensure precise and consistent vinification, guaranteeing the exceptional quality of the wines.
