Awards

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022 is magnificent and bursts from the glass with prominent notes of liquorice, ripe red fruit, rose water and garrigue. The distinctive 2022 is utterly seductive yet super serious, a Clos Saint-Jean at full throttle, with heightened flavour concentration without being over the top. A floral orange blossom accompanies the long and complex finish. Excellent.” – Vinous

There are between 70,000 and 80,000 bottles of the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which actually impressed me more than the 2020. Characterised by fruit ranging from strawberry and cherry to stone fruit, this wine is full-bodied and supple, silky smooth and pure, with impressive concentration and elegance. – 92 points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate on the 2021 vintage

Region

Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOP
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOP appellation is located in the south of the Rhône Valley, between Avignon and Orange.
The area is known for its warm Mediterranean climate, the powerful mistral wind and the characteristic soil full of rounded pebbles (galets roulés). These stones store heat during the day and release it slowly at night, allowing the grapes to ripen optimally.

The appellation covers approximately 3,200 hectares of vineyards spread over five municipalities. Up to thirteen grape varieties are officially permitted, of which Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre are the most important. The red wines, which account for the majority of production, are known for their full structure, spicy aromas and notes of ripe red and black fruit. The white varieties, which represent about ten per cent of total production, are distinguished by their round texture, floral notes and striking freshness.

Many winemakers in the region work organically or biodynamically, which contributes to the purity and authenticity of their wines. Thanks to low yields, old vines and careful vinification, the appellation produces wines with depth, balance and a strong sense of terroir. They are among the most expressive and sustainable wines of the southern Rhône.
