Fosso Corno: Outstanding Wines from Abruzzo

Located on a picturesque hill in Abruzzo, with breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea, the vineyard of Fosso Corno spans an impressive 30 hectares. This dynamic winery, founded in 2001 by the brother-sister duo Marco and Sabrina Biscardo, focuses on producing high-quality wines from the Montepulciano grape. The vineyard’s strategic location creates a unique microclimate, which is essential for promoting viticulture. The mild sea breezes ensure excellent air circulation, preventing diseases and allowing the grapes to ripen optimally.

The management of the vineyard is carried out with utmost care. By applying specific pruning techniques, fruit production is limited, which benefits the quality of the grapes. After harvest, the grapes are soaked for 10 days, followed by fermentation in modern stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine ages for four months in the tanks, contributing to the stabilization and refinement of the flavors. Fosso Corno produces a variety of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo styles, ranging from smooth and accessible to rich and powerful, with careful finishing in French oak for added complexity.

Fosso Corno has recently transitioned to official organic viticulture. This means that the winery is committed to sustainable agricultural practices and respects the environment by avoiding the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. The organic certification reflects their dedication to biodiversity, soil health, and producing ecologically responsible wines. This sustainable approach aligns seamlessly with their philosophy of careful vineyard management and the pursuit of the highest quality grapes. This results in wines that not only honor the rich tradition of Abruzzo but also ensure future generations of wine lovers a responsible and authentic wine experience.
