After more than three years of searching and tasting, we have found the Ribera del Duero wines we were looking for. The Miros de Ribera wines not only amply met our selection criteria but also immediately stood out for their pure fruit, power and freshness.
Miros de Ribera is located at the ‘golden mile’ of Ribera Del Duero, here you will find the most renowned bodegas and best wines of the area such as: Vega Sicilia, Pingus, Aalto, Pesquera. Miros de Ribera has 32 hectares of vineyards planted with the blue grape varieties Tinto Fino/Tinta de País, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Ribera del Duero wine region, which together with Rioja and Priorat is considered one of the most famous wine regions in Spain, is located in the north-west of Spain, three hours’ drive from the capital Madrid.
The high quality of the Miros wines is due to a combination of factors. Firstly, the local version of the Tempranillo grape, in the Ribera region called Tinto Fino or Tinta de País, which is at home in the climate of the Ribera del Duero.
Secondly, the summer climate, which is dry and hot, and the Miros vineyards, which are at 750 to 1000 metres. The high altitude of the vineyards ensures a big difference between daytime and night-time temperatures, which allows grapes to ripen for a long time and at the same time keep their fresh, pure fruit. Thirdly, the soil, which is a mixture of limestone, clay and sand, is ideal for growing Tinto Fino/País and contributes significantly to the high quality of the grapes.
Winemaker Mónica García Ledesma brings out the best in the grapes in her cellar. Depending on the quality of the wine and the desired style, the wines are aged in oak barrels made from French oak to gain further flavour depth and ‘complexity’.
