After the grape harvest, our meticulous winemaking process unfolds. We begin by carefully destemming and gently crushing the grapes. Following this, a brief skin soaking is performed, leading to fermentation at a controlled low temperature. The wine then embarks on a 6-month journey of maturation, resting on lees (‘sur lie’) in stainless steel tanks. This unique approach not only softens the wine but also enhances its complexity.
Our wine hails from the renowned ‘Le Fratte’ vineyard in Valdadige, a picturesque region in northern Italy. Nestled on steep slopes with excellent zonal exposure, our grapes are lovingly handpicked. Roeno’s roots run deep on the border of Veneto and Alto Adige, just to the east of Lake Garda. Our family business, founded in the 1960s by Rolando Fugatti, is now in the capable hands of the second generation: Roberta, Cristina, and Giuseppe. We specialize in crafting fresh, mountain-clean wines, each reflecting the unique terroir of the region.
Our selection boasts intriguing red wines crafted from indigenous grape varieties such as Marzemino and Teroldego, along with the delicate expressions of Müller Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay. A local gem, we’ve also embraced the region’s speciality, Gewürztraminer.
Roeno, a fusion of ‘Rolando’ and the Greek word ‘Enos,’ meaning ‘wine,’ is located approximately 30 kilometers north of Lake Garda, right on the border between Veneto and Alto Adige. Our primary focus, however, is firmly rooted in the unique terroir of Alto Adige. Founded in the 1960s, Roeno swiftly gained local recognition for its exceptional dining experiences. What sets us apart is our commitment to producing quality wines from limestone-rich terroirs.
Our vineyards span across various origins, including the youthful IGP Vallagarina, where Marzemino and Teroldego flourish. The Rìvoli region, nestled between Affi and our headquarters in Brentino Belluno, is considered the ideal location for Pinot Grigio. Here, we craft a Pinot Grigio with a remarkable reddish hue, subtly aged in wood – a true testament to our winemaking expertise.
