The harvest takes place at night to limit oxidation and preserve the freshness of the aromas and fruit.
Traditional winemaking. Organic.

The history of the Château d’Astros reads like a novel: an epic fresco of more than eight centuries, in which Knights Templar, Renaissance men and the bourgeoisie of Marseille intermingle.

Bernard Maurel, the current owner, gave a new impetus to the estate in 1963. He planted new grape varieties and built a new cellar near the château to produce his first AOC Côtes-de-Provence from 1970. The estate, whose main product was red wine, then specialised in the production of rosé wines.
Today, it is Bruno Maurel, a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand Youth Institute in Marseille, who represents the 8th generation. Assisted by his cousins, he manages the family business.

2021 is a decisive year for the Château d’Astros, the transition to organic farming.
This switch was initiated three years ago and reflects the family’s deep commitment and convictions. A family that shares this love of the land and of life, and that is keen to help people discover the treasures of this unique place.

680 hectares of wild and unspoilt nature, bathed in light, an enchanting land where the place of life prevails.
80 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of apple trees. On the one hand, organic wines in AOP Côtes-de-Provence and IGP Méditérranée; on the other, a historical heritage that expresses the history of Provence.
