Château d’Astros, in the heart of Provence, has a rich history dating back to the 13th century. The estate was originally inhabited by the Templars, who had already recognised the region’s viticultural potential. Today, this vineyard is a model of sustainable production, combining ancestral know-how with modern ecological principles. Among the exceptional wines produced here, La Belle Vie Rosé stands out for its elegance and freshness, perfectly embodying the essence of Provence.

This wine is made from a meticulous blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, grape varieties that thrive in the Mediterranean climate. The alternation between long sunny days and the refreshing influence of the Mistral allows the grapes to ripen to perfection, while preserving their natural freshness. The result is a wine with a delicate salmon colour and a refined bouquet of red fruit, citrus and subtle floral notes.

A wine estate with a strong character

Covering more than 800 hectares, of which around 80 are devoted to vines, this estate is not limited to vineyards. It is also home to forests and olive groves that promote biodiversity and the natural balance of the ecosystem. The winegrowers adopt an environmentally-friendly approach, banning the use of chemicals and synthetic fertilisers. Instead, they favour natural compost, grass cover and integrated farming techniques designed to preserve soil fertility while minimising ecological impact.

Thanks to these efforts, the vineyard has been awarded the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) label, a distinction given to farms committed to sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity. This label guarantees responsible management of water, energy and natural input resources, without compromising on the quality of the wines.

The Taste of Provence in a Glass

La Belle Vie Rosé is a wine that perfectly expresses the terroir of Provence. In the glass, it reveals an elegant salmon hue, characteristic of the region’s high-quality rosés. Its nose seduces with fresh notes of strawberry, raspberry and white peach, enhanced by a delicate touch of orange blossom.

From the first sip, you’ll discover a subtle balance between fruity liveliness and a refreshing mineral structure. The palate is full and elegant, with a soft, lingering finish. Thanks to its harmonious structure and delicate acidity, this rosé lends itself to many occasions: perfect as an aperitif, it also goes wonderfully with Mediterranean dishes such as grilled seafood, light salads or a traditional bouillabaisse.

A Commitment to Quality and Excellence

What makes this wine unique is not only its refined aromatic profile, but also the expertise that goes into making it. The grapes are harvested by hand and rigorously selected to guarantee optimum quality. Vinification takes place at low temperature to preserve the wine’s delicate aromas and freshness. The result is a rosé that is both elegant and expressive, perfectly capturing the sunny softness of the south of France.

A commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship gives this wine an authentic and unique character. With a deep respect for nature and an unwavering passion for viticulture, the estate produces wines that are pure, balanced and full of personality.

La Belle Vie Rosé is more than just a rosé: it’s an invitation to savour the Provençal art of living. A glass that transports you to the heart of sun-drenched vineyards, where tradition and innovation combine harmoniously, and where each sip reveals the very essence of this exceptional land.

AOP and IGP in Provence

Provence, renowned for its refined rosés, has several quality labels guaranteeing the origin and production methods of its wines. There are two main classifications: PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), formerly IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica in Italy).

Provence PDO (Protected Designation of Origin)

The AOP is the strictest classification in France, ensuring that a wine comes from a specific region and complies with rigorous production rules, reflecting the unique expression of the terroir. In Provence, the main AOPs are

-AOP Côtes de Provence: The largest and most famous appellation, accounting for around 75% of the region’s production, known for its light, elegant rosés.

Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence AOP: Located in the west of the region, this appellation produces wines that are often more full-bodied and spicy.

-AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence: A smaller appellation in the centre of Provence, offering wines with a fresh character and fine minerality.

AOPs impose strict rules on authorised grape varieties, yields per hectare and winemaking techniques.

IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) Provence

The PGI offers more flexibility than the PDO and allows winegrowers to use other grape varieties or production methods. Wines under this classification can be of high quality, but are not subject to the same constraints as AOPs, giving producers more freedom to experiment with new styles and techniques.

In short, Provence PDO wines express the authenticity of the terroir and respect for tradition, while PGI wines stand out for their innovative and accessible character. These two labels contribute to Provence’s reputation as an exceptional wine-growing region, particularly for its rosés.
