Domaine Astruc – A Winery of Experience and Expertise
Acquired by Jean-Claude Mas in 2002, Domaine Astruc has become a renowned name among wine enthusiasts, known for its dedication to quality, innovation, and expressive wines. This prestigious winery is strategically located in Limoux, a region benefiting from both Atlantic influences and the cool breezes of the Pyrenees. Limoux boasts a rich history and is celebrated as the birthplace of France’s first sparkling wine, marking a significant chapter in French wine heritage.
Unique Vineyards and Terroirs
The wines of Domaine Astruc are sourced from various vineyards around Limoux, situated in the beautiful Languedoc region. The unique combination of terroirs, soil types, and microclimates results in wines with distinctive character and finesse.
The Vinification Process
The grapes come from vineyards around Limoux in the Languedoc, enjoying a Mediterranean climate. The vines are 18 to 26 years old.
After harvesting, the grapes undergo maceration at 10°C for three days. Fermentation takes place at 25°C for five days. After fermentation, the juice remains in contact with the skins for an additional 10 days to extract more color and flavor. Only the juice from the first pressing is used for the wine. Finally, 20% of the wine is aged in new American oak barrels for four months.
Commitment to Quality and Sustainability
Domaine Astruc is dedicated not only to exceptional wine quality but also to sustainability. The winery employs modern techniques and respectful viticultural practices to protect the environment and natural surroundings. This ensures that the wines are not only true reflections of their terroir but also exemplary in eco-friendly winemaking.
