Sourced from selected vineyards near Rufina, Tuscany. The vineyards are located in the hills at about 300 to 350 metres altitude.
Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 12 months in used, French oak barrels.
The Masi family is a winemaking family at heart and has been making wine in the Chianti region since 1900. The winery is in the well-known wine village of Rufina, where they make Chianti, Chianti Riserva and some more modern styles.
The winery is called Basciano. Under this name, the winery’s best Chianti comes on the market, namely the Rufina Riserva. In addition, using grapes from its own vineyard, Fattoria di Basciano makes the blends I Pini and Il Corto, both aged in French barriques, as is done at Super Tuscans.
